We the Indian People, URGE the following from the Government of India:
- That, without abandoning the present Military Defence a parallel, Nonviolent Defence be instituted in our National Defence entailing:
a.
Setting up of a Ministry of Peace/ Nonviolence
b. Setting up of a National Nonviolence Academy alongside The National Military Academy
- The LEGAL OPTION to be trained in Nonviolent Defence rather than the present Armed Military System
- The LEGAL OPTION for tax payers to divert their Defence Tax from Military Defence to Nonviolent Defence
Current World Military Expenditure: $2million++ per minute
(If half the tax payers all over the world opt for Nonviolent Defence then $1million++ per minute would be immediately available for introducing the latter)
This Initiative derives its Legitimacy from the following:
1. Article 18 of the U.N. Convention on Human Rights which states: ‘Each individual has the right to …Freedom of Conscience’
2. The Preamble to the U.N. Charter which states: ‘We the people of the U.N. determined… to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war.’
